Prior to being elected to the Elk Grove City Council in November, 2006, Gary Davis served on the Elk Grove Quality of Life Task Force, is co-founder of Playground Partners, a member of the Elk Grove / Laguna Rotary Club, and is a member of the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the Elk Grove Economic Development Corporation Board.

As Mayor of Elk Grove, Gary’s top priorities are public safety, economic development, resident empowerment, strengthening neighborhoods, and better planning.

Born and raised nearby, Gary lives in the Franklin Reserve area of Elk Grove and is married to Heather Davis. They have three children: Grace (6), Adam (4), and Eli (2).

Professionally, Gary is the Political Director of EdVoice (http://www.EdVoice.org). Prior to that he served the Executive Director of the Sacramento State Alumni Association (SSAA). Prior to working for the SSAA, he was a Program Director for the California State University Office of Advocacy and Institutional Relations. Gary has also worked as a Legislative Director in the State Assembly.

Gary is proud to have served for four years as a Trustee on the Natomas School Board, where he championed the notion of local governments working together to achieve synergistic results.

While attending California State University, Sacramento, Gary was elected President of the Associated Students, Inc., overseeing a multi-million dollar budget and created a student leadership mentoring program. Gary earned a B.S. in Strategic Management from CSUS, and graduated from the Sacramento Entrepreneurship Academy.
