Can you afford Jack Sieglock for Assembly?

Let’s talk Jack.

On the Fourth of July in Lodi the Kiwanis put on a fabulous pancake breakfast fundraiser at Lodi Lake that I never miss. I attended with two of my friends first thing in the morning. The three of us were engaging in good conversation, food and cooperative weather. Jack walks up to the table and just starts talking to one of my friends. I suppose it was because she was the only familiar face in the crowd. The moment seemed awkward, with no acknowledgement from Jack that we even existed, my friend introduces us to him, “Jack you know Jane and this is my friend and neighbor Connie”. Then he spoke to me. “I know you”, and continued talking as if we weren’t there.

Yes Jack, you do know me. Back in 1995 when Jack was on the Lodi City council he was the proponent of turning Lodi into a Charter City strictly for the purpose of exempting prevailing wages to workers on city projects. Over a hundred people crowded the steps, hall and chamber protesting Jack’s proposal and the motion never left the dais. Jack has a history of anti-working family values. His policies have demonstrated a callous disregard for the working class.

Just take a look at Jack’s own political platform. The first thing you will notice from his web page is a lot of ‘my’ and ‘I’. These statements appear to reflect an attitude that lacks a teamwork philosophy. How will Jack get anything done if he can’t work with the other 79 Assembly members? He talks a lot about what he doesn’t like, but gives no solutions on how to correct the problem.

Regarding Mr. Sieglock’s stellar record of balancing the budgets for 16 years, Jack was only one of 5 council or board members. I’m sure the other members of these bodies had nothing to do with balancing the budget. Jack ignores all the contributions made by staff. It should also be remembered that when it was time to balance the budget, Jack made cuts to those that could least afford it, the county workers. So who did you damage in the process Jack? Besides, it’s required by law that they approve a balanced budget. Duh.

“Mommy, Mommy! Guess what I learned from Supervisor Sieglock at school today?”

“What darling?”

“How you get there is more important than who you gouged along the way!”

The responsibilities of the Board of Supervisors (BOS), is to provide service to all that live within the county as a whole. That would mean roads, mosquito vector, county jail, hospital, courthouse, sheriff, parks, fire, sanitation, transportation, you get the picture. Anything that has county attached to it falls under the responsibility of the BOS. The primary focus is health and safety services that benefit everyone within the county. However, Jack never said, “I do” to that when he was sworn in as BOS. He has consistently ok’d, signed-off, given his blessings on property tax increments to be taken by Redevelopment Agency projects that would have normally gone to the county treasury. Jack has given Billions, yes that is Billions of dollars of revenue away instead of keeping those funds for the county services listed above. Jack signed-off on the City of Lodi’s RDA (Redevelopment D A) project, which meant 500+ million dollars over 40 years lost revenue to the county, and now gives this revenue to the City of Lodi to spend willy-nilly. When the county hospital is in trouble, the county jail has needs, the county workers need a cost of living adjustment, the courtrooms are backed up, the county fire stations don’t have the resources they need to service their districts, there aren’t enough Sheriff’s officers to patrol the county residents and keep them safe, crack houses are on the rise, no funding for an anti-gang task force, then the county cries no money and wants a bond or an additional fee to pay for what the BOS neglected. That’s the kind of career politician I want representing me? NOT!!!

Jack’s words don’t match his actions. He claims he’s a staunch supporter of private property rights yet, he voted Yes on Lodi’s RDA project. The city of Lodi passes a city ordinance that stated eminent domain would not be used in their RDA project. However, what they didn’t tell you was that this could be overturned with little or no effort by the Lodi city council. RDA law granted by the State of California gives RDAs the power to take your property with no due process. A quote from the City of Lodi’s Attorney regarding this ordinance was, “it’s just window dressing”. That means if you own rentals or own a business you can be forced to accept what ever the RDA offers. You can not appeal the decision before a jury, you can not receive the funds offered until you sign, that you will not take them to court, and you can be evicted within 30 days and left without a business or your renters without affordable housing. What Jack is really saying, “I support my right to take your property”.

Jack is a parasite to the political system. He’s a career politician that only cares about himself. Jack’s supporters are the wealthiest 10% of the population, leaving the remaining 90% without representation.

Can you afford Jack?
