CROOKED LOOSE CANNON CAROLE MIGDEN SETTLES LAWSUIT FOR ILLEGAL FUNDRAISING OPERATION

Mercy!

Ross Johnson, chairman of the FPPC, accused Migden of trying to bully the agency “and distract our staff from their investigation.”

Migden’s political consultant, Richie Ross, retorted that Johnson, a former GOP legislator, was indulging in a “retaliatory, Nixonian tirade.”

The documents filed Wednesday show the FPPC agreed to pay her attorneys’ fees and costs associated with her claims that the agency’s attempt to block her use of $647,000 raised earlier was selective enforcement and the law governing surplus funds is unconstitutional.

The senator secured a preliminary injunction barring the FPPC from enforcing its ruling and allowing Migden to use the money in a hotly contested June 3 primary campaign.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Edmund F. Brennan said in his order there was reason to believe Migden could suffer irreparable harm without the money.
