Sacramento City Council To blame for the crime riot that has become the California State Fair

it happens every single year, and as today’s feature story demonstrates, its only getting worse. Who’s to blame? We’ll the entire Sacramento city council, that’s who.

its their game. its their town. its their PD that has to deal with these scumbags. Its their citizens who are starting to get totally feed up with the crime. Its their lack of pressure to pursue the crime issue which has encourged this monsters to raise hell.

The Sac council can do more than just - well - nothing! They can pass an ordinance that goes like this:

Anyone cited for committing a crime of violence or mayhem on the street in front of state property is doing in on city property. Pass an ordinance that Makes it an automatically recommended additional fine of $10,000 or 6 months in jail when arrested or cited in the act if its propagated outside of any type of sac entertainment venue or special sac entertainment event.

I’m talking everything from public drunkenness to simple assault. Tack on the extra penalty to make even the smallest crime an example. Its Most of these petty losers getting off with a slap on the wrist - which are the ones direclty responcible for instigating most of the violence.

Create a date and time window for the special enforcement ordinance.

(I will even offer to write it for you. How’s that? If you all want to pass it - I will do more that just blog about it.)

Then, when the DA gets the shot at prosecuting these turkeys - they will have the political backing and some extra reason to toss the book at them.

A better job can be done by the City. Here is an example;

Have you ever been to Times Square for New Years Eve? Well, I have. Ever wonder why they never have reports of riots or drunken morons fighting the police? Well, its because the New York Police scare the hell out of you when ever they come in contact with you. They take no chances. they will confiscate your bag if they just don’t like the look of it or if you act too fond of it, like your hiding something. They will pull anyone out of the crowd that even just looks at them funny. They pat you down when you enter the area and then then wand you for weapons. If you get tossed for not listening the first time to the pat down rules they shout at you, you don’t get a second chance. Your then told to remove yourself from the area or face arrest. Then they herd you and tell you where and when you can go where or where ever they want you to go to it. Oh, ya, and you can’t even go to the public restroom after getting the pat down. once your in the area, your in the area.

I felt pretty safe after all that. I was more afraid of the police then anything else. (scared in a good-little-law-abiding-citizen-guy-kind-of-way.)

get the point?  They don’t play.

So why does sacramento? There’s no excuse for it. none.

Let stop getting hung up on publicly prosecuting the Sacramento Police Department For Bogus issues and let give them the political backing that they deserve.

its their bodies on the line. They deserve the support. let’s get tough.

I don’t want big brother esq protection i.e. illegal search, illegal pullovers, etc. but I would like a stern penalty for any dumbass who is looking for trouble at the state fair.

dont you realize the state fair does not have to be in california’s capitol? they could easily move it and its economic benefits elsewhere.

glad you agree on the penalty. On moving the fair. Its a great idea, but it probably not Economically possible.

Jason, I agree wth you and clat. Why do they continue to let this same problem occur year after year? The penalties should be stiff with jail time being meted out rather than some piddly fine. I quit going to the state fair two years ago because of the disrespect shown by the young rowdy fairgoers to everyone. Security there acts as if they fear them and seem to think that it’s just going to go away each year rather than be prepared for it. Apparently the current security at the fair is unable to handle this problem, so why hasn’t there been a change made in the way they handle this problem?

Doug, i think now that attention is brought to the issue, then maybe something will get done. but its an iffy proposition. With the entire current council make up - its tough. They are more interested in spending hundreds of thousands on Cat hotels than on crime and security. Maybe that kind of money should be deferred to crime if the problem is really a priority for them. questionable spending still abounds at downtown sac city hall even in a budget crisis.

$10,000 for public intox? Are you mad? Have you become so retarded in the pursuit of paranoid right-wing (not conservative) values that you would push us into more of a police state than we’re already in (where do you think that $10,000 fine would go to)? Get a grip, and Jesus, buy yourself a grammar book.

Speaking of why shit never happens in Times Square...yes, having cops with inflated heads is so much a great situation for those of us who favor limited and honest government:

And further more...are you aware that Cal Expo is not in the city’s purview, and that it is Cal Expo police that handles crimes at the State Fair?

What the hell does the Sacramento City Council have to do with anything in this? Are you qualified to be running a blog about regional politics?

are you qualified to understand what i wrote? Your wrong on all of your assumptions. The city is responsible for enforcement. Case closed.

My apologies. You should email the owners of the State Fair website, they have erroneously omitted the central role that the city of Sacramento plays in governing Cal Expo.

http://bigfun.org/fair/GeneralInfo/security.asp
About the Cal Expo Police Department:
Cal Expo is the only exposition center in the nation with a full-time year-round police department. The Cal Expo Police Department acts under the same authority as any other police department in the state and its sworn personnel have statewide peace officer powers as specified in section 830.2(i) of the California Penal Code.

http://bigfun.org/fair/GeneralInfo/meetboarddirector.asp
The governing body of the California Exposition & State Fair is an 11-member board of directors.  The directors are residents of California . Nine (9) directors are appointed by the Governor with the consent of the Senate. One director each is appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly and the Senate Committee on Rules. Ex-officio members are Senator Darrell Steinberg and Assembly member Dave Jones. Current members of the board and their place of residence are listed below

Nice try on the attempt to twist my words. You know what I am referring to so im not going to waste time to correct you. Your probably the Manager of the State Fair. Ya, now as I am reading your comments again. Im pretty sure of it.

Again, your defense of the criminals is well noted. That’s fine. You can defend them all you want. Your choice. The criminal jurisdiction out side of the fairground extends to the city - not the fair. And I was not talking about crime inside the gates. I am referring to the chaos outside of the fair on city property in city jurisdiction and you know it. Nice try again. Typical liberal “crime is ok because it’s freedom” argument - and as always its dressed in confusion.
